The J.D. McKay Custom Homes Difference
Building a new home can be a truly exciting, creative, and personally satisfying
experience. The builder you choose will play a major role in the success of your
building project. Here are some of the reasons we believe that J.D. McKay Custom Homes
should be your builder.
Quality
J.D. McKay Custom Homes doesn’t choose subcontractors or suppliers solely based on
lowest bid. Rather, we pick them based on quality and their ability to live up to
the customer's expectations.
- All foundations are waterproofed versus “damped proof”
- In order to reduce or eliminate floor squeaks, J.D. McKay Custom Homes uses only 3/4”
tongue and groove sub-flooring that are glued and nailed shanknails. In addition,
we take the extra step to screw down all sub-flooring, as screws hold better
than nails and dramatically reduces or totally eliminates floor squeaks.
- All exterior walls are sheeted with hardboard wood – not insulboard.
Insulboard or blackboard allows 2”x4” studs to twist and turn as they dry out
and give no rigidity to the wall system. A full hardboard wrap keeps the studs
straight and true. This makes the walls much more rigid, dramatically reducing
drywall pops on exterior walls.
- All windows and exterior doors are sealed with Tyvek Flexwrap to assure a
watertight seal.
- Flash and Seal all brick to foundation locations to prevent any water entering
the basement.
- All concrete floors and drives are poured with Fibermesh, providing double the
concrete strength required by code and specified on building plans.
Plans/Designs
- We can meet with you to help you find a design that will fit your budget, in addition
to meeting your needs. Most clients come to us with an idea of what they want to build. We
provide design and architectural services for those who have a plan design in mind and want to
simply convert them to workable drawings, or have them refined. Either way, we will make your dream home
a realit.
- Every lot on which we build is studied to make sure the new home is placed on
that lot to preserve, as much as possible, the natural state and beauty of that
lot with the existing surroundings.
Financing Flexibility With No Surprises
